Second Time Around

It’s finally done…  This manuscript took a long time to come to fruition but I’ve enjoyed the journey immensely, and I have Lanai Jarrico, she of the SL Enquirer, to thank for its existence.

Second Time Around is a twenty-first-century romance, where virtual lives and real lives intertwine.

Sheridan King had it all and then she didn’t.  Her trust in men irrevocably shattered, or so she thought.

Luke Ashton, successful Ad man and artist, surfer and ladies’ man.  His pain and distrust of women run deep.

Having a Second Life© complicates matters even further.  What is real and what is imagined?

Second Time Around by Lacy Muircastle is available on Kindle via Amazon

Flash Fiction Challenge – Terribleminds

lightning-bolts

Persia Silverblade:     Welcome Ms Preston, it’s good to have you here this afternoon.

(Time zones you’ve gotta love them)

Lexi Preston:  Thank you Persia, it great to be here.

I strike up a sashay, and meander towards the bar at the back of the club.  It’s a good place to observe people from.  And by observation I mean profile perving, but hey, that’s what they are there for.

DJ Metastar was playing mellow love songs and was taking requests.

DJ Metastar: Up next is a request going out to Lexi Preston from an admirer – Chris de Burgh’s Lady in Red.  Drop me an IM with your requests.  Lexi for you, enjoy.

Second Life Love Stories – Bre and David Steele

SLE Bre Steele - My Life

I undertook to do another of the SL Enquirer’s Avie polls and the question that was to be answered was as follows:  Is it possible to find true love in Second Life and make it in Real Life?

This question struck a chord with me and I decided it has more legs to it than just a straight forward poll, and I obtained permission from Lanai Jarrico, the owner and publisher of the SL Enquirer to turn it into a series of SL love stories.

I see pixel people …. part one

My Pics - horses 1

Let’s all get off our high horses and give them a rest. It is time to stop whining about Second Life and Linden Lab, and time for a reality check!

Think back to 1999, midnight on the 31st of December to be precise.  As the world held its collective breath what were you doing?  Were you sitting there wondering if the end of the technological world as you knew it was about to descend upon you?  Had you stock piled your pantry?  Or were you just celebrating the end of one century and the beginning of the next?

My Pics - Linden Lab logo

1999 was also the year Philip Rosedale started Linden Lab with Andrew Meadows.

As the clocks around the world moved into the year 2000 nothing happened, everything carried on as it had been doing.

Philip and Andrew were steadfast in the belief that what they were creating was a complex emergent system driven by an economy and the contributions of a lot of people, just like the Internet but in 3-D and live–you were really there. The other thing was this idea that it ought to be a creative space where people can be entrepreneurial if they want to.

Draxtor Despres

MORE - Draxtor Despres 1

Okay, hands up, how many of you have heard the name Draxtor Despres?  Or seen it mentioned in any number of blogs both independent and on your SL account dashboard? I am willing to bet that it is a large proportion of you.  If you don’t know who he is, where have you been?  Oh I know, busy roleplaying as an ostrich …..

It is quite apt that we continue with our series about residents using their creativity in Second Life, and how it impacts on their real life with this month’s cover article, by interviewing the one and only Draxtor Despres.  His exuberance and enthusiasm for all that is Second Life is difficult to convey in the written format, so I would like you to read this article keeping those facts in the back of your mind.

Love Matters

love-wallpapers4

Most of of us are capable of loving and of being loved, maybe to varying degrees, but I think that most of us would have to admit to wanting to be loved in particular.

People join Second Life for various reasons, ranging from curiosity or looking for a creative outlet to looking for love.  The sad thing is that there are all too many who deliberately abuse the relative anonymity that SL offers to undermine others, whether it be copybots stealing the talents of genuine designers to those embarking on relationships with less than magnanimous intentions.

So how about you enlightening me on your opinion on whether love matters in Second Life or not?

You can email me your replies on lacy.muircastle@yahoo.com or just leave a comment here.  I look forward to hearing from you

It is time to ascend

Not so long ago I interviewed the über talented Mantis Oh aka Cari Lekebusch and look what he has done now!  He has created Ascension which is a multimedia LEA sim.  This amazing sim opened on the 25th April 2013.

SLE Ascension 1

It is described as “an ancient/futuristic landscape with surreal plants and hybrid insects, Ascension takes the visitor on a trip of sound, color and light.”

Non Profit Commons

SLE Nonprofit commons - 19-04 logo_001

Second Life is not all sex, music and fashion, there are those among us who are in SL to educate others and to do their bit for charity and to raise awareness for issues that plague us out in the big bad real world.

One such place is the Non Profit Commons, where a collection of really lovely people meet in SL to promote RL charitable programmes. The Nonprofit Commons in Second Life is sponsored by TechSoup Global and is a programme of Caravan Studios and the TechSoup Global Community & Social Media team.
